Mid February, and light enough to walk well before eight.

Just a souffle of wind, enough to be heard but not enough to intrude, so an  early walk in chilly air. A short walk in chilly air!.

The cats delight in  freedom. As we go through the big gate. my old one starts to race with the youngest of the three  new young waifs, and they roll around on the green grass together, in sheer play and joie de vivre.. Lovely to see this...

So to the lane at the crossroads. The breeze has a keen edge which decides which turn to take.... the mighty ocean close on the left. Almost calm and rocks out at mid-tide.

Today four of the cats follow me. Always the old one, who will follow me for miles, and today the boy of the new ones, who has a fine turn of speed and hates to be left behind...

Then the two small girls, tails flying as we make our way down the lane.  No leaves and the twigs and branches of the hedges bent in the direction of the most frequent strong winds.

One missing! He is adjusting most slowly to the invasion of the new cats. At night the new ones sleep snug in the kitchen and the two older ones atop my bed, These young critters can be too exuberant for older folk!

Mid season. Inside, hyacinths fragrancing cool air, planted in succession over the late autumn and early winter to give grace and colour in these bare months.
After   Storm Erik and son of Erik last week, it is good and needful to have calmer days, still full of life and still cool.

My hands are busy as always. Today, thick legwarmers for Canada that are in fact and truth milk for needy babies overseas.

So, settling with the birdsong strong and full of promise...

Standing still..

acquiescing to the changing, peacening in the seasons' inevitability and wisdom. Now, the year is passing; season changing. No longer ...
